The Vet Central, Earlwood team is composed of a highly skilled and compassionate group of people dedicated to the health and well-being of your pets.
Dr Jay Dulichan
My exposure to animals started as a child caring for the neighbourhood pets that needed medical attention. I graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1988 and established two Veterinary Hospitals in the suburbs of Johannesburg. In 2001, I immigrated to Australia and was employed by two veterinary hospital groups in the Sydney region. In 2012 I established Vet Central Animal Hospital in Earlwood.
With 26 years of experience, I bring a vast amount of experience and knowledge in various fields of veterinary medicine and surgery. My special interest is in all aspects of surgery especially orthopaedics and this has extended into ophthalmic and abdominal surgery.
My medical interest are geriatrics including endocrine diseases, arthritis and pain management. My clients especially know me for my positive experience enrichment consults and advising clients from puppy school to grief management is all important to me as a veterinarian. My family of five have a pet called Jadoo a Shih Tzu cross Maltese.
Dr Emily Yan- Veterinarian
Dr Emily completed her Veterinary Science degree in 2002 at Sydney University. Since graduation she has worked in country NSW and Hong Kong before returning to Sydney and small animal practice.
Dr Emily enjoys all areas of Veterinary medicine; her passion is to support pet owners to have a healthy and long-lasting companionship with their pets. She has completed a Veterinary Acupuncture course as well as a Chinese herbal course for animals and she believes in holistic approach in animal treatments.
Dr Emily speaks Cantonese and Mandarin. She has two boys and a dog named Belle. In her free time, Emily enjoys bushwalking, badminton and baking.
Dr Byron Lotz – Veterinarian
I graduated from vet school in South Africa in 2005. After that I have worked in South Africa (unfortunately not on lions or rhinos), the UK and now Australia. I have interest in ophthalmology and ultrasonography. What I enjoy most about the profession is the challenge of the puzzle. No case is every the same, no matter how ordinary so when you present your animal to us then their condition is treated with utmost concern because it affects them in ways they can’t say and that in turn affects you. To keep myself occupied outside of work, amongst other things, I am part of a running club, play guitar and take an interest in computer programming. I am working alternate Saturdays for now and look forward to seeing you then.
Sammy – Head Nurse
Hi, I’m Sammy and I’m a qualified head nurses here at Vet central.
With 10 + years of experience in the industry, I’m one of the first people you will see here at the clinic.
My job is to ensure your pets safety and aid in any queries you may have. I assist from helping in your pets’ surgeries, to your pets wake up. I’m also the friendly face you’ll see in the morning admitting you and your pet into our clinic.
My passion for animals started at a young age caring for animals from cats and dogs to wildlife and larger farm animals. I was taught at a young age by my parents how to look after all animals. This in turn has pushed my passion for animals to do my best in my job looking after others pets as a vet nurse.
I spend my free time camping, fishing and 4WD with my 2 black German shepherds or in the garden at home with my plants and my chickens.
Miriam
My name is Mariam, I am an animal attendant and receptionist here at Vet Central Animal Hospital.
I’ve always had a passion for animals; even at the tender age of 6. My childhood dream job was to look after dolphins.
I am very passionate about animal health and well-being. I enjoy taking care of all animals; big and small! I’m definitely a dog person but I’m also obsessed with lions (so i guess I’m a dog and cat person).
I enjoy learning new things; I recently finished a writing course as well as a photography elective.
I’m currently looking into studying a Certificate in Animal Care.
I have two beautiful dogs; both Border Collies – A boy and girl named Jack and Skye.
Fun fact – my family and I own a farm with (much to my dismay) no animals on it…yet!
Maya
My name is Maya, I am a junior vet nurse at Vet Central.
I have a love for all things ferret and one day hope to be an exotics vet so I can specialise in them. I am in my first year of studying nursing and am set to finish in mid 2025.
Although I am most passionate about exotics that doesn’t stop me from loving animals of all shapes and sizes! I’m always down to chat about your pets and the funny things they get up to.
Currently my family consists of my Dalmatian Domino, two kittens, five ferrets and a few humans too.
Laura
My name is Laura and I am a junior nurse at Vet Central. They say if you love your job, you don’t work a day in your life and that’s certainly how I feel working as a vet nurse. I love meeting and caring for animals, learning new things while helping treat them and learning about each pet’s personality from their loving owners.
People always ask if I prefer dogs or cats and I always answer “why not both?” Each species and breed have their own unique quirks to love and I hope to one day work with exotic pets or captive animals and learn them all.
